Our Logo

The Southeastern Minnesota Synod logo was created by Diane Whipple. She worked with two concepts. First, our synod has five main rivers that flow through it. Each of our five conferences of congregations is named after a river: Blue Earth River, Cannon River, Minnesota River, Root River, and Zumbro River. The logo depicts these five rivers. Second, the biblical text she worked with was Isaiah 44:3-4, "For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on your offspring. They shall spring up like a green tamarisk, like willows by flowing streams."

As God blesses us by the water, the water of our Baptism, we grow into a community of faith (the synod) symbolized by the tree. "They shall spring up like a green tamarisk, like willows by flowing streams."

The Southeastern Minnesota Synod is a community of faith forging new ways to make Christ known.
