2003 Synod Assembly

Various Details

Pre-Assembly Report
Being familiar with your Pre-Assembly Report will help ensure your assembly experience is a good one. These reports will be mailed in late March. Please put your report in a safe place and bring it with you to the assembly.

Registration
On-site registration is located in the North Lobby of the Mayo Civic Center and is open on Friday from 8-11 a.m. Those arriving after that time or on Saturday may register in the on-site office located in the North Lobby area (look for the signs).

Housing
Make your housing arrangements with the hotel/motel of your choice. Housing information will be included with the assembly registration materials sent to you or your congregation.

Parking
See the downtown map of Rochester (Note: You will need to install the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this vile - download it at www.adobe.com) to locate convenient parking lots and ramps. Downtown parking is free on Saturdays. The Rochester skyway system is also shown on this map.

Meals
Meals provided for paid assembly participants include: continental breakfast each morning, Friday lunch, Friday evening food at the Congregational Fair, and Saturday lunch. Beverages are available during the entire assembly. Your name badge is your meal ticket, thus it is important to wear it at all times. Additional tickets for food at the Congregational Fair may be purchased by contacting the synod office before April 23 at 507-280-9457. These tickets can be picked up at on-site registration. Tickets for food at the Congregational Fair are non-refundable, but may be transferred.

Clothing
The Mayo Civic Center is climate controlled. You may want to dress in layers and wear your walking shoes so you are comfortable as you move from one area of the center to another.

Child Care
For child care services located in Rochester, contact: Just for Kids, 507-281-2151; Children’s World (south) 507-287-0747; or Children’s World (north) 507-282-5676. The Parent and Child Break Area provided in the past on site at the Mayo Civic Center will not be available this year.

Special Needs
Hearing amplifiers are available, but one must be reserved at least one hour prior to when you wish to use it. Reservations can be made in the on-site office in the Board Room off the North Lobby. If you have other special needs contact the synod office at least two weeks prior to assembly, 800-426-6376.

Displays
Be sure to visit the displays located in the Auditorium. Augsburg Fortress Publishers display is located on the stage in the Auditorium. NOTE: Some products at the Augsburg Fortress display will be available for order only, but most resources will be available for immediate purchase. Augsburg Fortress purchases at the Synod Assembly can be made on an Augsburg Fortress Account or credit card. Cash will not be accepted for purchases.

No Smoking
No smoking is permitted in the Mayo Civic Center.

Environmental Stewardship
Please help recycle by returning all name badges, voting cards, unwanted paper, and completed evaluation forms to the appropriate boxes upon leaving the assembly. Also, please bring your own beverage mug. Throw-away cups are provided for drinks, but their use is discouraged.

Olan Mills Photos
Olan Mills will be at the Assembly taking pictures for our new photo roster. Pastors and AIMs, please come to the assembly prepared to have your photo taken. Olan Mills will be available between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday. Be sure you have your photo taken during one of these two times!

Board of Pensions Representatives
Representatives from the Board of Pensions are present at the assembly and are available to answer congregational questions and provide specific information to those who are covered by the plan. Appointments are not necessary.
