Legislation: "RACINO"
Passed
WHEREAS, gambling is demonstrably destructive of families, persons, and society; and
WHEREAS, the institution of the state is charged
with the welfare of its citizens;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Southeastern Minnesota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America opposes passage of the gambling legislation
known as "Racino" because of its destructiveness to the families and society of the state
of Minnesota; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appropriate synod staff publicize this action by
means of an immediate electronic press release to the Rochester, St. Paul, and Minneapolis
newspapers.
