2004 Synod Assembly
Habitat for Humanity Project
Follow along with the progress
on the house with our
live updates! And watch the progress of the house in our
Habitat for Humanity photo gallery!
The Habitat house information has
changed. Instead of building a new house at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church,
we will now be renovating a house at 1009 1st St. SW. See a map of the new
location
here. Due to limited parking, volunteers working on the house are being
asked to park at the north end of the Miracle Mile parking lot (115
16 Av NW) (between Friday's and Miracle Mile) and carpool. Shuttles will
be available from the Miracle Mile parking lot to the house.
This year at Synod Assembly, we will be doing
a service project in conjunction with our Assembly business: we will be
building a Habitat for Humanity house.
Habitat for Humanity serves locations all around our synod, including
Freeborn County, Goodhue County, Rice County, Rochester Area, South-Central
Minnesota, Steele County, and Winona County.
We encourage your congregation to choose at
least one person (NOT a Synod Assembly voting member) to volunteer on the
service project while the Assembly is in session. Training is provided
on-site for volunteers working with the construction of the house, but there
are also volunteer opportunities on the site in areas other than
construction (i.e. food service, etc.). Congregations or individuals may
also choose to make a monetary donation to the project. We will keep you
updated on this project on this web page.
