Habitat Home Blessed by Bishop,
Assembly Participants, Volunteers
"It's more fitting to rebuild
that which is no longer plumb, straight, and true, just like we are,"
remarked Trent Fluegel, Executive Director of the Rochester Area Habitat for
Humanity.
About 40 people gathered after
the close of the assembly for the blessing of the house. Though the
renovation of the old home will not be done until the end of June, Bishop
Harold Usgaard led those assembled in a prayer of blessing. "It's exciting
to see so many working," he noted.
Though the family that is to
occupy the home was working elsewhere, Bishop Usgaard asked Fluegel to pass
along a gift to them. He presented a doorknocker with the inscription,
"Peace to all who enter here."
Over 170 people signed up, and
many more just showed up, to help work on the house. "You don't know how
much this does for a neighborhood at risk," Fluegel said. "You have given
hope for a neighborhood and hope for a family."
God's marvelous light shines
brightly.
