Resolution 2007-05:
Mission Development Special Offering

1 WHEREAS, a tradition has
been
2 established in the Southeastern
3 Minnesota Synod to generously
4 support efforts to start new
5 ministries in the synod; and
6 WHEREAS, a new ministry
start
7 needs $150,000 to $200,000 of
8 support from the Southeastern
9 Minnesota Synod and the
10 Evangelical Outreach and
11 Congregational Mission program
12 unit of the Evangelical Lutheran
13 Church in America; and
14 WHEREAS, congregations
giving
15 $100, $250 or $500 as listed on
16 the attachment would raise
17 $51,000 to support new ministries;
18 and
19 WHEREAS, Glory to God,
Rochester
20 is a new ministry start in the
21 Southeastern Minnesota Synod;
22 and
23 WHEREAS, the Mission
Planning and
24 Action Team of the Southeastern
25 Minnesota Synod Council is
26 exploring emerging ministry sites,
27 redevelopment congregations, and
28 ethnic ministries in the synod;
29 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
30 that every congregation of the
31 Southeastern Minnesota Synod be
32 encouraged to participate in a
33 special offering for Mission
34 Development funds; and
35 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
that
36 congregations prayerfully consider
37 giving $100, $250 or $500 as listed
38 on the attachment either through
39 special offerings or the
40 congregation budget; and
41 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
that
42 congregations be in prayer for the
43 new ministries of the Evangelical
44 Lutheran Church in America; and
45 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
that
46 the Mission Planning and Action
47 Team of the Southeastern
48 Minnesota Synod will allocate the
49 offering received among the new
50 ministry starts according to their
51 needs.
