Synod Assembly Planning Committee
Responsibilities
Purpose:
The purpose of the Synod Assembly Planning Committee is to work with the
Assembly Manager in planning and carrying out the details necessary to hold
the Synod Assembly.
Duties:
1. Attend meetings of the planning committee when they are scheduled by the
Assembly Manager. These meetings are held during the day in the synod
office.
2. Complete assignments in a
timely manner, giving the Assembly Manager or the synod staff the
information necessary to carry out their duties.
3. Be available to assist with
preparation of voter packets the week of assembly.
4. Be available to work on the
set up of the assembly the day prior to the start of the assembly as
assigned by the Assembly Manager.
5. Be available to assist the
Assembly Manager on the days of the assembly.
a. Clergy members of the
committee must commit to being available the days of assembly (don't
schedule weddings, meetings, etc. that would interfere with being in
Rochester Thursday - Saturday); also, must be willing to miss some of the
assembly to assist the Assembly Manager as needed.
b. Lay members of the
committee must commit to being available the days of the assembly (don't
schedule family or other activities for the week of the assembly and be
available all day Saturday). It is desirable that lay committee members not
be voting members of the assembly from their congregation.
Worship Committee duties:
1. Coordinate all aspects of
conducting the worship services of the assembly.
2. Secure musicians, lectors,
and other participants as needed for each worship service.
3. Secure all equipment
necessary for the worship (communion ware, Bibl, processional cross, etc.)
and arrange for all of the things to be returned promptly.
4. Arrange for rehearsals as
needed.
5. Brief ushers and communion
assistants.
6. Work with the synod's
communication director to produce the worship booklet in a timely manner,
obtaining all necessary copyright permissions. |
