The Synod is Ready For Mission. Are
You?

I'm ready for mission. The
synod is ready for mission. How about you?
Jesus challenges us to "go and
make disciples of all nations," to be disciples and witnesses, to share and
spread the good news of the gospel. Figuring out how to use our gifts and
talents to do that is always a challenge. We may work for our own
congregation and its mission; we may participate in worthy causes like
Habitat for Humanity; but could we do something more specific and concrete
to actually spread the good news?
Each year the synod provides
up to $15,000 for new congregational starts in our synod. Some of those
dollars come from our "I'm Ready for Mission" plan. Those who participate in
"I'm Ready for Mission" are individuals, couples, congregations, and
organizations like Women of the ELCA. Participation involves writing a $100
check to "I'm Ready for Mission" each year. It is quick, easy, and simple.
You need not go to meetings. You will not receive any other solicitations
from this participation. You will feel blessed and be blessed by sharing
your gift in this way.
Because these new starts occur
within the geography of our synod, you can keep up-to-date on their progress
through our synod publications. You can actually go and visit the building
and worship with the congregation. You can keep them in your prayers and
feel a part of their mission and life. You may mail your check to the synod
or drop it off at the Synod Assembly.

Monthly Bible Verse
We are a synod joined in Bible study. This Bible verse was selected by
Harold Usgaard, bishop of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod, for everyone in
the synod to study.
