Some of you may know that I recently returned from the ELCA Communicators' Conference in Chicago (I'll be looking at ways to get more people there next year, it's great!). Among a lot of other things I gained from the experience, one of the things we talked about was the benefits of blogs.

I've never been keen on the idea of asking people to read my random ramblings about nothing online, so I never liked the idea. However, having already thought about ways for us to share ideas as they come to us, rather than only the people at meetings sharing and hearing 6 times a year, the blog idea started to grow on me.

So here's what we're going to do...Assuming this all works correctly (it only took me 4 days to figure out this pretty simple process!), I will be posting a new blog entry approximately once a week. I have a list of things that I think we could talk about - suggestions I have, questions I have, and ideas that have been shared with me. Each time I post, I will share some thoughts and/or research on one of those topics. I am hoping that the communicators throughout the synod (others are welcome too!) will share their ideas as well, so this can serve as a collaborative tool.

For now, just feel free to comment on topics that you would like covered or thoughts on this whole idea. I'm on a much needed vacation next week, so when I return after Labor Day I will post again with some "real" substance. I'll also work on figuring out the feed set up so you can "subscribe" to this blog and be notified when there are new posts.
