A Week of Rich Fare at Holden: Food in the Wilderness
A Good Earth Village trip to
Holden Village, WA
Deposit due June 15 to ensure a spot
Holden Village is setting the table for conversation, song and feasts of every
kind. All are welcome! Presenters include Martin Wells, Susan Briehl, Dorothy
Bass, Fred Niedner and Paul Hinderlie. Mary Preuss and Tom Witt (Bread
for the Journey) will be leading the worship.
Register early as this program is cosponsored with the Valparaiso Project on
the Education and Formation of People in Faith and will likely fill early.
Deposit of $150 is due by May 1 to Good Earth Village to ensure a spot.

The Mayo Hospice Program, with support from the Department of Chaplain Service and Mayo Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital, invites you to participate in the Healing Adventures Camp.
There are a variety of emotions and feelings when a young person experiences the death of an important person in his or her life.
Campers will have the opportunity to:
- Spend time with other children who have had a similar experience.
- Meet with trained grief facilitators who will encourage discussion on:
- Loss
- Grief
- Healing
- New beginnings
Campers will be assigned to age-appropriate groups and will participate in a variety of activities, including:
- Nature walks
- Crafts
- Rock wall climbing
- Music
- Petting zoo
Families are invited to participate in a closing activity with the campers from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. An optional Adult Support Session will be offered from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. the day of the camp. Interest in attending this session can be indicated on your child's registration form.

Nov. 2-4, 2008 (Sun.-Tues.): Fall Theological Conference: “Beneath the Sacred Canopy: An Encounter with the Psalms”

The Fall Theological Conference is a continuing education event for leaders – lay and clergy – in the church.
Keynote speaker: Rev. Susan Briehl
We will worship daily and have time for connecting with colleagues. In addition to Rev. Briehl’s three presentations, the conference includes these learning options from which to choose on Monday afternoon: “God’s Steadfast Love Endures: Writing a Psalm” (Susan Briehl), “Covenantal Conversations: Christians in Dialogue with Jews and Judaism” (Darrell Jodock of Gustavus Adolphus College), Gentle Yoga, Ministry in a Small Congregation (Bob Albing), and a presentation on Children, Youth & Family Ministries. There will be the opportunity to meet with a representative of the ELCA Board of Pensions, and of course, to do whatever else you choose to do. Bonus features are “Magical Moments with Mark” and daily morning “Stretch and Pray.”

The keynote speaker is Meizhu Liu, author of the Color of Wealth: The story behind the U.S. Racial Wealth Divide. Special presetnations by Bishop Julian Gordy, Southeastern Synod; Rev. Michael Russell, Charlotte Williams, and Rev. David Billings, authors of Lazarus at the Gate: Writings and Reflections on Poverty and Wealth. Workshops will focus on developing poverty eradication programs and other economic and social justice issues. We will also explore the connections between poverty wealth, race and class.
